Silver Y, Heesch - head, Netherlands
Found during the day on the far end of our sliding glass door that is an entry to the backyard. A moth classic that is abundant during the summer where it migrates from the south. It is known to be attracted to high nectar flowers of which lavender is one of the favorites, we happen to have lots of in the garden.
It is well known for its easy to recognize symbol on the wings. Named "Y" in english. In dutch we call it the "Gamma owl" as a reference to that latin character. An older dutch name is to simply call it "the pistol".
