
Hexagonal-pored Polypore - Neofavolus alveolaris
Small mushroom with irregular-shaped fruiting bodies. Upper surface was orange and scaly. Cream-colored pores were diamond-shaped/honeycombed. Short, stubby stem that was nearly absent.
Spotted growing on dead wood in a deciduous forest.

"Neofavolus alveolaris" is a species of polypore fungus in the family Polyporaceae. It is widely distributed in the temperate areas of the Northern Hemisphere.
