This lovely moth made its way indoors from an overgrown backyard habitat and was enjoying the glow of my bathroom vanity lights. Gordon County, Georgia, US. July 22, 2018.

  If I am not already familiar with the genus or species, I do a quick run through the pattern recognition on iNaturalist. It isn't always accurate, but most of the time it can get one to a family level ID. If that succeeds, I turn to BugGuide for more information. If my first method fails, I look further into offline (field guides) and online resources (like BugGuide, MONA, or facebook ID groups). Fortunately, I have a little bit of Lep knowledge already as I learned a lot from my professor when I took his entomology class.
