Lesse Grass Blue, Trincomalee, Sri Lanka I'm not sure what this butterfly is, I've been going through a few Sri Lankan butterfly books, including one by Van Der Poorten. I have a feeling that it's a species of grass blue, maybe a lesser grass blue. But I can't be sure. The markings on the hind wings are slightly different and throwing me off. 1. Looks rather like one of the grass blues (Zizeeria, Zizina, Zizula), perhaps Lesser Grass Blue (Zizina otis) but I am puzzled by the question mark like spot on cell CuA2 on the hind wing. (I actually wrote this without reading your description - really! - so it's interesting we came to the same conclusion. Do you mind if I ask Michael or Nancy van der Poorten to take a look? 1. Hello, my apologies! I had already asked Micheal and Nancy Van Der Poorten and identified it, and it actually is a lesser grass blue. I just updated the ID. Posted 6 years ago

"Zizina otis", the lesser grass blue, is a species of blue butterfly found in south and southeast Asia. The species was first described by Johan Christian Fabricius in 1787. The lesser grass blue is often misidentified as "Zizina labradus", the common grass blue.
