I did read somewhere the larva to pupa stage happens when the weather is 16 degrees or above, in 2011 our fence around the picnic area, at work, was covered in them and it was great to show the visiting children the pupa stage, even the teacher was fascinated as he did not realise there were four stages! Coccinella septempunctata is the most common ladybird in Europe. Its elytra are of a red colour, but punctuated with three black spots each, with one further spot being spread over the junction of the two, making a total of seven spots, from which the species derives both its common and scientific names.
