Large-ish (15-20 mm), black, hairy jumping spider. It had green, iridescent chelicerae and a black body with 3 white spots on the dorsal side of the abdomen.

    1. Thanks, it definitely had a big behind. I've uploaded another shot to show the abdomen. And, I'm wondering if my ID might be wrong - the abdomen resembles that of P. regius. Posted 7 years ago

        Now you can see a list of drawings and photos of all species in the genus, including the two you have in mind. Not sure if you can find a unique trait this way.

"Phidippus audax" is a common species of spider belonging to the genus "Phidippus", a group of jumping spiders easily identified by their large eyes and their iridescent chelicerae. Like all jumping spiders, they have excellent stereoscopic vision that aids them in stalking prey and facilitates visual communication with potential mates during courting.
