A Spotfin Chub (Erimonax monachus) swimming in the strong rapids of a mountain stream on the boarder of Tennessee and North Carolina. This male is in breeding condition: bright colors and development of conical spines. This is a federally listed threatened species.

Spotfin chub is a ray-finned fish in the family Cyprinidae that is endemic to the Tennessee River watershed. Its other common names include turquoise shiner and chromium shiner.
