Mount Rainer from Gobblers Knob This is a little visited corner of the park (getting to the trail means a nearly 4 mile walk up a closed road), but it's well worth it to get to this old fire lookout. Perched on a tiny bald at the top of a mountain it has an absolutely stunning view of Rainier to the east and even Saint Helens visible through notch far off to the south. 1. Beautiful! I definitely miss this view in the PNW! If only I could stand the long rainy season! Posted 7 years ago
    1. I find the trade off of not having to deal with snow unless I actually want to to be OK ;-) and as long as I can get over the pass I can always head over to the east side of the mountains, which I actually prefer to do when it's cooler and the snakes are still asleep. Posted 7 years ago
  2. The PNW is my favorite part of the US. It’s so beautiful!! Posted 7 years ago
