Virginia Rose - Rosa virginiana Growing on a sunny hillside by a dirt road near a dense mixed hardwood/coniferous forest in NW Georgia (Gordon County), US. May 25, 2018.

Shrublike. Compound leaves, one leaf per node. Infrastipular prickles. Narrow (1.1+mm) stipules that are widest towards apex.

I got several eyes on this and keyed it out to the best of my ability, but there still are some lingering doubts about whether this is Rosa virginiana or Rosa carolina.
