Eastern Box Turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina) We ran across this lovely turtle on our stroll along the dirt road abutting our land.       I always hesitate to say "our property," because I think it sounds rather elitist. We are definitely sharing THE land with many other lifeforms!       Posted 7 years ago

The Eastern box turtle

The eastern box turtle (Terrapene carolina carolina) is a subspecies within a group of hinge-shelled turtles, normally called box turtles. T. c. carolina is native to the eastern part of the United States.
