Gilled Bolete - Phylloporus leucomycelinus
Habitat: At the base of a ridge in a dense mixed hardwood/coniferous forest. Growing in leaf litter (attached partially to a thin twig).
Pileus: Velvety, dry, reddish brown
Fertile surface: Wavy, bright yellow gills. Decurrent
Stipe: Yellow towards apex, transitioning to a rose color, then to blush. Basal mycelia white.
Does not bruise in any location.
''Phylloporus leucomycelinus'' is a species of bolete fungus in the Boletaceae family. First described in 1978, it is found in eastern North America and the Philippines.
