Yellow Trout Lily
A pair of brown and green mottled leaves sheath the base of the stalk, which bears a solitary, nodding flower. The flowers are yellow inside and yellow/bronze outside. The petals and sepals are bent backwards, exposing 6 brown stamens. Not all plants will flower - single-leaved, non-flowering plants also occur because they are either too young (Trout Lily doesn't flower for the first 4-7 years of life) or too crowded to flower.

''Erythronium americanum'' is a North American species of herbaceous flowering plant in the lily family.
