Cholini sp., Large spotted weevil, Uraba, Colombia

We're seeing this pattern where most weevils we see in Colombia are unusually large, compared to past experiences. Besides that, they're also quite beautiful.

  Thanks! That looks like an interesting candidate. Looking at reference images of that species, it looks to have a larger/fatter abdomen. Maybe the difference between a juvenile and an adult? The other thing I'm wondering about is the yellow stripe seen on the photo, not seeing that on reference photos. The range and other visual aspects do seem to match.

    The yellow stripe is an issue - I can’t think of any or find a match for any that have a yellow stripe. It sure is a stunner though. Posted 7 years ago
