A group portrait of 4 species of terns.
The second and forth one from left are Black terns. The first one is Whiskered tern, the last one - White-winged tern. The two white ones are Common terns.
Chlidonias hybrida, Chlidonias niger, Chlidonias leucopterus and Sterna hirundo.
It is rare in Bulgaria to observe the 4 species on one place. This is the cross-point of their ways - they breed on different places. To observe them all together could happen in course only of a couple of days.

The black tern is a small tern generally found in or near inland water in Europe and North America. As its name suggests, it has predominantly dark plumage. In some lights it can appear blue in the breeding season, hence the old English name "blue darr".
