Violet Goby (Gobioides broussonnetii)
The Dragon Goby or Violet Goby (Gobioides broussonnetii) ranges along the southern and eastern coast of the United States and around Florida all the way through the coastal region of the Gulf of Mexico and down the coast of Central America and along the coast of South America to Southern Brasil. It is also found around the Caribbean Islands. They frequent muddy estuaries and can live in both fresh and salt water (they are euryhaline).

The violet goby is a species of goby native to marine, fresh and brackish waters near the Atlantic coast of North and South America from South Carolina in the United States of America, to northern Brazil. It prefers bays, estuaries and river mouths with muddy substrates. It is often marketed as the dragon goby or dragon fish.

Where was this one photographed? Do you also know at what depth? Posted 7 years ago
from the species tree ( https://www.jungledragon.com/wildlife/browse )
from the map ( https://www.jungledragon.com/wildlifemap )
from countries ( https://www.jungledragon.com/wildlifemap/countries )
This is why us moderators try to get the species and location set for as many entries as we can!
For now I've set your Gulf of Mexico photos to the USA. It may not be entirely accurate, see it as a practical compromise :) Posted 7 years ago, modified 7 years ago
