  1. Migration is now in full swing in the Eastern US. While I know many of the species from their Neotropical wintering grounds, it's fun seeing them in the US for the first time! This was a lovely encounter from yesterday as this unusual warbler, which usually hops around on the ground in dense cover posed in the open for a few seconds. Plus, it was a new species for me! The Kentucky warbler is a small species of New World warbler. It is a sluggish and heavy warbler with a short tail, preferring to spend most of its time on or near the ground, except when singing.
