  1. Last year this species has been renamed from Anas querquedula to Spatula querquedula. The respective Wiki page has been amended as well. Currently on JD there are 4 photos identified as Anas querquedula. As this name is not actual they have to be amended respectively. I shall do it tomorrow (too inconvinient to do it from my tablet now!). Posted 7 years ago

The garganey is a small dabbling duck. It breeds in much of Europe and western Asia, but is strictly migratory, with the entire population moving to southern Africa, India, and Australasia in winter, where large flocks can occur.
