Signs of an Ambitious Beaver - Castor canadensis This tree was at least 35 cm wide, and a beaver has been working on it for a couple weeks now. Beavers are second only to humans in their ability to change and manipulate their environment. They fell and gnaw trees, create huge structures that block streams, and they turn fields and forests into ponds.
