Luna Moth (Actias luna)
Actias luna is the first Saturniid species which emerges in Spring in my area, so it was such a welcome sight to see this beauty resting at the base of a large pine tree in a dense mixed hardwood/coniferous forest in Northwest Georgia (Gordon County), US. April 3, 2018.
''Actias luna'', commonly known as the Luna Moth, is a lime-green, Nearctic Saturniid moth in the family Saturniidae, subfamily Saturniinae. It has a wingspan of up to 114mm , making it one of the largest moths in North America.
