Western Skunk cabbage
The leaves and flowers contain calcium oxalate crystals which if consumed by humans without proper preparation can lacerate the oral mucosa and cause a painful irritation. Bears don’t seem to mind and consume the plants as a laxative to rid themselves of their fecal plug after hibernation.

''Lysichiton americanus'', also called western skunk cabbage, yellow skunk cabbage, American skunk-cabbage or swamp lantern, is a plant found in swamps and wet woods, along streams and in other wet areas of the Pacific Northwest, where it is one of the few native species in the arum family.
