Brown Centipede Brown centipede that was approximately 25mm long. I see these centipedes frequently, but usually can't get a decent shot of them because they turn and run for cover as soon as they are exposed. I found this one under a rotting log. Brown centipede that was approximately 25mm long. I see these centipedes frequently, but usually can't get a decent shot of them because they turn and run for cover as soon as they are exposed. I found this one under a rotting log.

"Lithobius forficatus", most commonly known as the brown centipede, is a common European centipede of the family Lithobiidae, although its distribution is not exclusive to Europe. It is between 18 and 30 mm long and up to 4 mm broad and is a chestnut brown colour.
