
Hepatic tanager, Uraba, Colombia
Found on the university terrain of Uraba during sunset. Despite this species having a large range in the Americas, it needs further studying and its various sub species may ultimately be promoted to species status. This is an adult male.

The hepatic tanager is a medium-sized American songbird. Formerly placed in the tanager family , it and other members of its genus are now classified in the cardinal family . The species's plumage and vocalizations are similar to other members of the cardinal family.
