Black-crowned night heron, Uraba, Colombia Back from the mangroves, we made way to visit the Uraba university terrain once more, where just before the sun set, we found this black-crowned night heron making a perfect pose. It&#039;s standing on a branch above a pool of water, where it was intensely focused on.<br />

This species has an almost cosmopolitan distribution, yet different sub species occur in different continents. This looks to be a juvenile.
