Shiny Cinnamon Polypore

Concentrically zoned Cinnamon-brown, silky cap. The cap was very thin and tough. Stem was also brown and very tough. Brown pores.

These mushrooms are lovely and have a fantastic texture, but they remind me of the black velvet kitsch paintings that were popular in the 1970's in the US.

The Shiny Cinnamon Polypore

A little vase-shaped polypore, recognized by its silky, cinnamon cap. It is frequently found in moss along trails. When fresh, the cap surface has a sheen and is delicately zoned with concentric bands of cinnamon brown. The flesh is tough and leathery, and when sliced open is rusty brown or even orange.
