Painted Cup Moth egg mass
Spotted in the same area as the female adult in the previous spotting were small patches of tufts of brown hairs. These were egg masses. The female lays her eggs in a string which looks like yellow beads. These form a sticky convoluted mass which the adult then covers with the hairs off her body.
The Painted Cup Moth is a moth of the Limacodidae family. It is found in Sydney and Melbourne, as well as South Australia and Tasmania. The wingspan is about 50 mm for females and 20 mm for males. The larvae feed on ''Eucalyptus'' species.
