  1. I was wondering, is there any kit or tools you bring on a fungi trip? Posted 7 years ago
    1. I bring small paper bags for collecting any samples, a pocket knife, a paintbrush to remove excess debris, a small notebook to record details, a compass (I tend to wander way off trail to find good mushrooms), and a headlamp to provide extra illumination as needed (wrapped around my wrist). Some people bring reagents into the field to test for chemical reactions, but I haven't attempted that yet. I bring the hiking essentials too of course- water, snacks, bug head net, and a homemade altoid tin survival kit, lol. Posted 7 years ago
      1. Interesting. What do you do with the samples? Have a microscope at home? Given your profession I assume yes :) Posted 7 years ago
        1. I do have a scope. But, I also dry the samples and store them in my herbarium. Sometimes, I get requests from mycologists for samples. So, I send samples that they can then keep, test, etc. Posted 7 years ago

A small, brownish mushroom with slightly lilac gills and a 'corrugated' cap.
