Northern screamer, Uraba, Colombia Too far away, but sharing it anyway for the species value. This bird is near endemic to Colombia. Strangely, I've never made the connection to a Northern screamer despite being familiar with the Southern Screamer, which is a popular bird in zoos the world over. For the sake of completeness, there's also a Horned Screamer, occurring in the east of Colombia. 1. That is a cool looking bird! I'm totally not nit-picking, but did you mean "endemic to Columbia and near threatened" or did you mean to write "near endemic"? Posted 7 years ago
    1. No worries, they are both near endemic and near threatened. The near threatened text isn't from me, it's from Wikipedia. Near-endemic comes from my Colombia's birds book. Countries usually take a lot of pride in endemic birds. The somewhat frustrating part for Colombians is that a lot of their birds largely occur only in Colombia, yet also in just a tiny range in a neighboring country, because of the Andes basically. Hence they use near-endemic a lot :) Posted 7 years ago, modified 7 years ago
