Buff-throated saltator, Uraba, Colombia

Captured during the last light of day around the university terrain of Uraba. Kind of a hard to define bird, not really a finch, cardinal or tanager, a bit of everything.

The buff-throated saltator is a seed-eating bird. Traditionally placed in the cardinal family, it actually seems to be closer to the tanagers. It breeds from southeastern Mexico to western Ecuador and northeastern Brazil.
