Choco Toucan - sunset, Uraba, Colombia Our 2nd location on our 1st day in Uraba was to attend the local university, which has a lot of forest terrain surrounding it. Upon arriving, the light was already getting too low for birding, but we would return to this location twice more in the coming days for herping mostly. The Choco toucan is a near-passerine bird in the family Ramphastidae found in humid lowland and foothill forests on the Pacific slope of Colombia and Ecuador. Within its range, extensive habitat destruction is taking place, but it remains fairly common locally.
