Spot-breasted woodpecker, Uraba, Colombia This one is taken from our car on our way back from the day's hike. Pretty unusual to find woodpeckers so calm and in the open, not even bothered by a heavy loud diesel approaching. The spot-breasted woodpecker is a species of bird in the family Picidae. It is found in South America in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela; also eastern Panama of Central America.
