Pied Puffbird, Uraba, Colombia
We were lucky to find this puffbird in the open just around a corner of the forest. Out of 4 black and white puffbirds found in Colombia, this one stands out for its pied crown shown on the photo. As with most puffbirds, it is described as "rarely moves", which makes it a great subject. Side view:

It is found in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Peru, Suriname, and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and heavily degraded former forest.
