Together with Jacamars, Manankins are some of the most sought after birds in Colombia. Manakins are best known for looking pretty cute in general, even more so for the male courtship behavior where males compete in a lek. A giant competitive dance festival. You can hear such a lek going on from the sound it makes, which sounds similar to snapping your fingers repeatedly. Golden-collared manakin, Uraba, Colombia We were very happy to find this manakin only occurring in the northwest of Colombia, and parts of Panama. It is found in Colombia and Panama. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and heavily degraded former forest.
