Hi Ferdy, I'm pretty sure a male Scarlet would never show this much red in the wings, they should be essentially be jet black in an adult male like this. See https://ebird.org/species/scatan
I think your bird is a male Summer (not unusual for them to have dark edging on the wing feathers, e.g. https://macaulaylibrary.org/asset/212187601), though your female is indeed a Scarlet. Posted 4 years ago, modified 4 years ago
