The taxonomy for this mushroom is complicated and mostly unknown. It may be a new species or it could also be either A. rhacopus and A. texasorora.  Right now, it&#039;s classified as Amanita stirps Sororcula, which means means it&#039;s part of the Sorocula group that is limited to eastern North America and not including taxa where the caps are predominantly gray.
