  1. Say, Ferdy, how sure are you that this is a Grey-cheeked? I struggle with Catharus thrushes most of the time, but I'm seeing a big buffy eye ring on your bird, which is generally more indicative of Swainson's? Posted 7 years ago
    1. Now that you comment, I'm not sure at all :) I based this identification on our guide's assessment, but given that it is far away and showing it on a tiny camera LCD, it's easy to mistake it. I compared online images and my book, and I believe you are absolutely right. Thanks for being sharp! Posted 7 years ago

Swainson's thrush, also called olive-backed thrush, is a medium-sized thrush. It is a member of genus ''Catharus'' and is typical of it in terms of its subdued coloration and beautiful voice. Swainson's thrush was named after William Swainson, an English ornithologist.
