Western Basilisk, Bahia Solano, Colombia This was a quick welcome hike after arriving at our beach lodge in Bahia Solano. The beach, the lodges, the garden behind it, were full of this species. Hundreds of them. A very entertaining species to watch, constantly running and stopping and running in and endless loop. Closeup:<br />

  3. Great shot and information. Aren't these the lizards that can run on water? Posted 7 years ago
    1. Yes, they are! The common basilisk is named after it: the Jezus Christ lizard.

Coincedentally, JungleDragon is named after this lizard as it was a breakthrough moment in my life that inspired me to build JungleDragon:

Emerald Basilisk: the real dragon 2007. The true birth of the JungleDragon. Costa Rica,Emerald Basilisk,Jesus Christ Lizard,Lizard,Reptiles,Squamata
