  1. I don't know why, but I just have to share this other escape story. Dutch news have been covering the story of Hermien the cow for 2 months now. She was on her way to the slaughter house when she managed to escape. She retreated into the woods. She was extremely clever in hiding and surviving, only coming out at night to feed. Failing every attempt to capture her. Here she is, the beauty:

Last weekend, a team of 15 strong finally managed to capture her. In the meanwhile a crowdfunding campaign raised 50K euro, which was plenty to give her a retirement in peace. Even better, the budget was enough to also bring her best friend. They are now having a blast with about 50 cows on a wide open farm with plenty of space, freedom, and no claim on her milk or meat.

Because of commercial hunting and slaughter in the 19th century, the bison nearly went extinct and is today.. more
