Bar-crested antshrike, Tatama National Park, Colombia Barcode-like species blocked by many bars, was tricky to focus this one. Can be confused with the Barred Antshrike, but the main difference is easy to see: the male crown of the bar-crested antshrike continues the bar pattern, whilst the bar-crested shrike has a black crest, as its name implies :)<br />

Antshrikes in general are secretive and hard to see, yet this species is an exception as its often found in more open areas. The bar-crested antshrike is a species of bird in the family Thamnophilidae. It is found in Colombia and Venezuela. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical dry forests, subtropical or tropical moist montane forests, and heavily degraded former forest.
