    1. I think it's also found in Europe and Asia, although I'm not sure how common it is. The Wikipedia distribution is far more intriguing than is the real distribution of this species though. Posted 7 years ago

''Pholiota aurivella'' is a species of fungus in the family Strophariaceae that is found in native forest of New Zealand and in the United States. It is frequently found in the American West and Southwest, especially in late Summer and Fall. It is sticky or slimy when moist and grows in clusters on live or dead trees.
