  1. Hope you're right on this ID, as it seems quite rare indeed. In fact, when searching for it, all I see are dead ones with a pin in them! Posted 7 years ago
  2. I wonder if it is not one of the forms of Papilio memnon. Do you have a view of the upper side of the wings?

According to the forum below, Papilio lampsacus is considered either extinct or only confined to a very small unaccessible area.
All the pinned specimens are shown from the upper side. In the drawing there is both sides and I don't see any red spots that this one has in the base of the wing.

    1. I have just posted the upper side of the butterfly today. My friends from Butterfly & Macro Singapore advised me that she is a papilio-lampsacus from West Java. Fortunately, this butterfly was found in my home garden at country side of Sukabumi, West Java, Indonesia.

      It looks similar to https://species.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:PapilioMemnonFemHieraJavaUpUnAC1.jpg

      1. You are in the foot of Mount Salak where Papilio lampsacus has been reported before. Hopefully it still survives there but this is not one. I found a photo of the underside of a pinned specimen where you can see that it has yellow comma shaped spots in the base of the hindwings instead of the red spots this one has. The spots on the upper side are different too.
