Multicolored Asian Lady Beetle (with Aphid)
This lady beetle had 18 spots on orange elytra, and a characteristic black "M" on the pronotum.
I'm fairly certain that this lady beetle was hibernating as it was tucked away on a log and was barely moving. Either way, it was being harassed by a very bold aphid that keep poking at and crawling on the beetle. You'd think that this aphid would have some kind of instinct that would warn it not to assault a beetle that snacks on aphids.
"Harmonia axyridis", most commonly known as the harlequin, multicoloured Asian, or Asian ladybeetle, is a large coccinellid beetle. This is one of the most variable species in the world, with an exceptionally wide range of colour forms.
