Habitat: Growing on a fallen branch in a dense mixed hardwood/coniferous forest in Northwest Georgia (Gordon County), US.

Total height of specimen: 4-4.5 cm

Fertile surface: White pores (running down stipe) that bruise slightly brown

Stipe: Off center slightly, light brown/gold near the apex and black near the base.

Pileus: Light brown gold with striations near edges. Planar with slight depression in center.

The Blackfoot polypore

"Cerioporus leptocephalus", commonly known as blackfoot polypore, is an inedible species of mushroom in the genus "Cerioporus". It usually grows on the branches of broad leaved trees. Formerly placed in the genus "Polyporus", this species was moved into "Cerioporus" in 2016.
