This macro of the Red Admiral reveals a mouse-like hairy snout. Distance between my lens and this specie was about 10cm.

What can I say, man, great great detail those eyes and feelers. Catching DOF, colours of moss, contrast between background, lighted red parts of the wings and those checkered eyes. Applause! Posted 13 years ago

The Red Admiral

The Red Admiral is a well-known colourful butterfly, found in temperate Europe, Asia and North America. The Red Admiral has a 45–50 mm wing span. The species is resident only in warmer areas, but migrates north in spring, and sometimes again in autumn.
