Cardinalfishes are mouth brooders, meaning the incubates their eggs in their mouth and it is the males who does that.  During the incubation period, he doesn&#039;t feeds but may accidently swallows a few eggs when he &#039;spits and swallows&#039; the eggs to aerate them.       Its a small fish and the size of the eggs are max of 2mm and this one was reluctant to opens his mouth to show his babies :(

''Ostorhinchus hoevenii'' is a Cardinalfish from the Indo-West Pacific. It occasionally makes its way into the aquarium trade. It grows to a size of 6cm in length.
