  1. Spectacular! This is one of my faves of yours! Posted 7 years ago
  2. Neat new fungi - it's nice to see some from the east coast showing up. I've added the species for you. You can ID at will. If you don't care about getting the points for the IDs I can do them as I add new species.

And welcome to the two of you - you've probably noticed I have a ton of fungi photos - a lot of them are not ID'd or tentative - so please do let me know if you see something you recognize :)

    1. Nice to meet you, morpheme! Christine and I became friends as a result of our passion for fungi (and the natural world in general), and she recently introduced me to this site! It's awesome to meet a fellow fungi fanatic (whoah, too much alliteration there)! I look forward to browsing your gallery! Posted 7 years ago
    2. It seems I have created the species in the same time. I'm sorry! Posted 7 years ago
      1. Hopefully we haven't goofed up the database :p Posted 7 years ago
        1. I hope so. It happened in the past as well! Posted 7 years ago
  3. Thanks for the welcome! I am still trying to figure out how to enter the information correctly, so thanks for your help :) Posted 7 years ago
    1. Please do let me know wherever you need help. The species identification process has a few gotchas, but to sum it up: assuming you have a binomial name and enter that in the species identification dialog, one of 3 things can happen:

      1. The species is unknown inside JungleDragon (no prior identifications) and the system will try to automatically create a species record based on the corresponding Wikipedia page (on english wikipedia), if it exists. This is the fully automated scenario.

      2. Same as #1, but in this case there is no Wikipedia page to get species info from. This happens quite a lot with less common species. In that case there's the "request manual species creation" button, which you've already found. This sends a notification to the moderation team, one of which will then manually create the record.

      3. The species is already known inside JungleDragon and the system will simply link you observation to the known species record, this process too is fully automated.

      Hope this helps.

        1. Good to hear :) Obviously we try to keep the inside working away from users in that they shouldn't have to know how this works, but knowing the background can explain some of the effects. Posted 7 years ago
