African Penguin close-up
One of the things I really wanted to see on our Garden Route trip were the African Penguins. The best place to see them is at Boulders Beach, about a 45-min drive south of Cape Town, and it is really a wonderful place to see penguins. You can walk along a boardwalk and get quite close to them. I have seen penguins in the Galapagos and in Australia, but this is the best place to get close and take photos.
The African Penguin, also known as the Black-footed Penguin is a species of penguin, confined to southern African waters. It is also widely known as the "Jackass" Penguin for its donkey-like bray, although several species of South American penguins produce the same sound.
