  1. Such a cool bug, I would love to know its name. Posted 13 years ago
    1. Me too. First I thought of a crab spider, they can have these colors and catch insects on flowers, but the shape tells me it is not a spider.
I have never seen anything before.

      1. I think this earlier photo is the same bug:

It looks like it has six legs. I've been searching for 20 minutes but still no match. This one is challenging. It has some similarities with a soldier beetle, don't you think?

        1. Indeed the same one. I have also been searching for that time or so. I had given up already but searched again after the hint by Blackdiamond, but that didn't lead to anything.
BUT some further searching led me to a similar looking bug which was an Hemiptera (real bug). After including that the google image search results got much better (without all the fashion images and volkswagon beetle cars) and I found it!
It is the Red Assassin bug (Rhynocoris iracundus).
All that searching, thinking it is very exotic, and then see it even has a dutch wiki page :( .

  2. Black, it almost reminds me of english police officers (their cars especially). Never knew this species. Posted 13 years ago
