  2. I especially like the wing detail, so different from what one normally spots on a fly. What is it btw? never seen it before (though you can never tell with a macro, normally you don't see this kind of detail with the naked eye;))
    Is it the hoover fly from the other shot?

  6. Strange colouration on scutellum and scutum for this species. Wildflower might be right that it is mis IDed. I agree with her eye observation too. Posted 4 years ago

"Tachina fera" is a species of fly in the genus "Tachina" of the family Tachinidae. It is found across Europe as far north as Scandinavia. Its larvae are parasitoids of the caterpillars of moths in the family Noctuidae; afflicted species include the Broom Moth "Ceramica pisi", the Dun-Bar "Cosmia trapezina", Small Quaker "Orthosia cruda" and Common Quaker "Orthosia cerasi".
