
Splendid Ghost Moth -male (Aenetus ligniveren)
A striking green moth with diagonal thin white markings on its wings. The abdomen was also green with forked tufts of short white setae. Legs were also covered with green setae. Eyes were large. Antennae were fairly short and feathery.
Flew into the house, attracted by bright lights. There are mixed native trees in the area.
The female of the species is green with brown patterns that make it look like a drying leaf as it hangs of plants or branches.

''Aenetus ligniveren'', the common splendid ghost moth, is a moth in the Hepialidae family. It is found from southern Queensland to Tasmania.
The wingspan is 50 mm for males and 70 mm for females. Adult males have green forewings with a series of white, diagonal stripes. The hindwings are shiny pale grey. Females have brown wings with variable green patches on the forewings. Adults emerge in early summer.
