      It a great photo Ernst.
      Its closest relative is probably calomela which share acacia foodplant and globose larvae

    That is fun to see - looks like a an image of an European Chrysolina sp. and Chrysomela sp. "morphed" into one :o) Something along the lines of a Chrysolina larva with Chrysomela skin ... interesting! Cheers, Arp

Dicranosterna picea is an Australian species of leaf beetle in the Dicranosterna genus. This hemispherical leaf beetle is found only on broad leafed acacia. It has a scattered puncturation pattern.
